The ASAP1D combines the original ASAP1 compact chassis, linear power supply and auto-switching capability with the latest digital power amplifier technology for improved power output, energy conservation and system protection. (ASAP stands for Automatic Switching Amplified Power)
The ASAP1D is typically used to switch a pair of speakers between a whole house audio system and a local source, such as a TV or iPort™. When the local source is off, the ASAP1D simply passes its speaker-level inputs directly to its speaker-level outputs. When the local source is switched on and producing signal, the ASAP1D senses this condition and sends the signal into its internal high-efficiency power amp section. The amplifier produces 25 watts/channel into 8 ohm and 35 watts/channel into 4 ohm speakers with built-in automatic protection from short circuits, over-current and over-temperature. Switch back time, after the local source is turned off, is selectable from 3 seconds to 2 minutes. Triggering sensitivity is also adjustable.
