With no less than 500W of high efficiency Class D amplifier powering a 300mm (12in.) long throw ultra-low distortion driver, The KEF Reference Model 208 subwoofer floods the listening area with exuberantly extended, immaculately controlled bass. Output, phase and the low pass filter frequency can be adjusted to your preferences. With its acoustically inert hand-finished cabinet, Model 208 reproduces low frequency effects with precision as well as power.

The KEF Reference Model 208 subwoofer features KEF's latest Uni-Q® driver array is the most natural-sounding yet. The tweeter at the centre of the midrange cone now has a vented three-magnet motor system and a unique new braced dome, creating a perfectly time-aligned point source whose directivity is optimised by the reprofiled cone. As a result, dispersion is wider than ever. With The KEF Reference Model 208 subwoofer power response is more uniform. Multi-channel imaging is even more stable - and stunningly realistic. The new Uni-Q® array is so perfectly attuned to reproducing the human voice that vocals acquire previously unheard-of definition. The improved balance between direct sound, early room reflections and the reverberant field delivers an extraordinarily realistic performance without losing any of the Uni-Q benefits of precise imaging, spaciousness and unconstrained vertical response.

The KEF Reference Model 208 subwoofer uses the new Reference Series crossovers are computer-modelled to optimise integration. The boards are decoupled to isolate them from cabinet vibration and internal acoustic pressures, and three-tier construction eliminates crosstalk. High saturation iron core inductors are used for the bass sections, with more linear air-cored inductors elsewhere; bipolar capacitors for low frequencies, with very low loss polypropylene capacitors for the upper ranges. Wire-wound resistors minimise compression and maximise linearity.

The KEF Reference Model 208 subwoofer has been precision engineered to eliminate every unwanted vibration, Reference Series cabinets are works of art in themselves. Massive internal bracing tailors the volume of each enclosure to the exact parameters of its drive unit. Extensive mechanical and acoustic damping, together with independent driver loading and KEF's decoupling techniques, creates inert enclosures that eradicate any vestigial panel resonance, standing waves, stray reflections or box colourations.
